Oneill Psycho summer/winter suit????.....
Looking for opinion on a full suit.
I'm looking for a new long suit. I used to use full suit several years ago but stopped when I grew a bit due to lack of flexibility, and moved into shorties and shorts instead. I've now started introducing friends to the sport and so last year spent a few full days on the water messing about and teaching- which makes it more difficult to just pull off my clothes, ski, then get into the boat then get dressed again. (This is in the UK so even in the summer I mostly get dressed after skiing on my top half...). I'm now looking for a suit that I can ski in in spring and autumn on my own (i.e into and out of water quickly) and keep on all day in the summer (still mild over here!) without getting cold. Have tried an Oneill Psycho II winter suit (5:3) today but 5mm seems a bit of overkill on a modern suit. I can also get a great deal on a summer version (3:2) of the same suit. I have a 15 year old winter suit (5:3) which is still pretty warm even in cold water, but it's very worn and too restrictive. I'm thinking that the modern design and material of the summer version should be OK for spring/autumn occasional skiing and full use in the summer. I'm also worried about the flexibility of the winter version, even though in the shop it seems pretty flexible. The Pshycho 2 seems designed for surfing, where you obviously spend lot of time actually in the water. Anyone have any opinion? |

Why not go with a SWS Sahara drysuit. Sounds like it would be perfect for you and not restrictive at all although even in the UK summer I don't think you would want to leave on any suit.

if your not wanting to go the drysuit route check out the oneill Mutant range....... even less leaky than the Psycho II or at least it is on me, and the least constrictive wetsuit I've ever been in

I don't think the weather justifies a dry-suit, as I ski quite happily in shorts mid summer at the moment, just looking for something so I can extend the season a couple of months either side of the 'summer'. Spring and autumn is pretty mild over here. Certainly more so that the USA. I'm not also keen on having a loos fitting top half as I like to 'sink' rather than 'float'. The Pshycho II summer suit suggests 50F upwards, which I think should be OK. Trying to find the UK average temepratures.
Thanks for the input though!.... Also who's the best MC dealer who will do mail order in the US? I work for CAT and will be over mid feb and intend to get a set of srvice parts for my 1991 PS 190, as parts are a LOT cheaper in the USA! |

I have a Psycho 5/4 full with hood and it is awesome. I don't really need the attached hood, but thats way it came in and as I own a seperate hood I figured I would just keep it and let someone borrow my seperate hood.
I would highly recommend the suit, I got this one to replace my Oneill Heat 4/3. Loved the Heat 4/3 but the Psycho is a lot more flexible and comfortable. I've used the suit from ice out to shorty weather. Overall the 5/4 is a little overkill for most times, but its easier to take the suit off and cool down then to warm after riding in a suit thats not warm enough. Let me know if you want one, we can get it for you. We don't stock the Psycho so I'd need to special order it. We only stock the Heat and Epic in colder water suits. |

Thanks for the inputguys, I've just ordered a Psycho II 3/2 for $150 ($280 ish). Got a lot of feedback from surfers who were wearing it all through the UK winter, and that's for surfing. I figure It'll be fine in the UK spring for skiing on the river and lake.
I'll let you know how it goes. |

ya that 3:2 will suit you fine cause i ski in the ocean and surf in the winter and the water is about 45 to 50F in winter and i'm totally fine and it is very flexable

I've got a Pyscho II and I love it. It seals so good that sometimes I'll have dry spots on the inside after I finish skiing.

I bought a Psycho 3:2 4 years ago for winter surfing. I'm using it for winter waterskiing now and it's excellent. It was one of the most expensive wet suits in the surf shop at the time (around $300), but well worth the extra money.
