LT-1 compression?
I will be looking at a '95 Prostar w/LT-1 engine (400 hours). What kind of psi, should I see, when I do a compression test? Are there any unique items to look at, with this particular engine?
Thanks

Manual lists compression ratio at 10.5:1 with compression pressure at 200--225 psi. Max. allowable compression variation "highest to lowest within 75%."
etduc, where's the boat located? Got any pictures? /don't worry, I'm not trying to buy it out from under you. ![]()

Man, wish I jumped on yours. Timing is everything, oh well. Got other irons, in the fire. Anybody, want a heck of a deal, on a 1990 TRISTAR?

Yeah, Alexandria is a bit of a drive, but not all that far. Mine would've been closer, but no LT-1. Here's a 93 205 for sale at a CC dealership in Houston. Doesn't specify engine, but I'd bet it's the 351.

I'd be more concerned about too much variation between cylinders.

Neat boat dealer, u can test drive boats, on site. Nothing wrong with 351w. My TRISTAR has 2000+ hours, and runs strong. I'm looking for a newer style open bow hull. (Wife won't go for a 190.) Since the 197 is way out of the price range. My default is a pre 96 205, unless someone's got a sweat heart deal and wants a 1990 TRISTAR, here in TX.

Yeah, I've never been to that dealership, but I think they run M3 Sports (same location). One of the sales guys is on the PN forum quite a bit. Derrick something-or-another. Anyway, it has under 500 hours on it.
