Dripless Packing Rope - anyone tried this?

Found this site on the web. Has anyone ever tried this stuff. Repacking my stuffbox is on the spring to-do list and this "stuff" looks interesting.

I got some and put it in last summer. so far no leaks. I used the 1/4" on my 1" drive shaft.
changing the packing is a breeze, the worst part is getting the oldone out.
Do not stretch the new one around the shaft to cut to size. wrap it loosly.

Yes....that does look like it might be worth trying. I wonder if it adds or reduces friction on the shaft going through the stuffing box.

Hey All,

That looks like the stuff I used, mine was a little more blue in color but doesn't drip...Use an old small straight blade screw driver bent 90 degrees as a packing remover....

graphite synthetic packing

I've used it. Have'nt had the boat out since last November, but I would recommend it so far. Stuff is like a graphite impregnated synthetic. Highly plyable if you get it too big, you can smash it flat to fit.

decent artilcle on diy-boat.com See earlier thread...

I will also order some to test and will report.
Do you know what size packing rope should be ordered for my 2000 sportstar 19 stuffing box?
Thanks and regards,
Clement
