Bad prop from Michigan
I just got a new Michigan/Federal 3 blade Nibral 14x18 prop for my powerslot 190 and there is a tremendous amount of vibrationin it. The prop is way out of balance. I've never had this problem with their props before so I was surprised. The finish on the blades and especially on the edges is pretty rough also, which surprised me. What's up with Michigan props? Is this an anomaly or have they gone downhill? My OJ props never look like this. The prop is going back to Overton's today.

Dan,
I just bought an acme for my 88 prostar powerslot...top was 43.5 at 5100 rpm....now 49.5 (gps) at 4100 rpms and the wake is much flatter comes out of the hole like a shot. Best 500 bucks I ever spent.

I agree with the ACME choice. You also could have installed it improperly. Does the prop seat on the shaft equally with the key in or out? Also, prop nut tension ect in spec. Either of these can cause vibration.

After owning ski boats for 30 years and loading on and off the trailer at some sketchy ramps, I've changed my share of props. I always clean the shaft and put on a thin coat of waterproof grease so it seats well. It also helps getting it off. The prop was definitely on right. It's just a piece of garbage.

It might have been a return - you'll never know. I bought a prop (for another boat - an I/O) from Overtons and returned it after trying it out - no questions asked (didn't damage it - just didn't like the way it made the boat handle). Someone might have bought it, damaged it and sent it back.
