I currently use a Trailblazer, but the back seat will be tight with 3 car seats in it. The 3rd row seating would work but is a pain to access in the EXT and not much room behind for "stuff". The full size SUV's are at least 10K more than minivans, to that is why I had to ask. Looks like we need to watch for a good used one.

We have never seen a car. Our driveway runs parallel to the road so we go our our driveway and make a complete 180 degree turn onto the short Dead End road to the launch.

I think we only did it twice, and that was because the only car we had up there was my brothers Jetta.

When we had our third we bought a Grand Caravan. It was only a few months before we realized that it didn't have enough room.

Traded it in for a suburban and never looked back.

We're on our 2nd suburban now.

With all of the end of year clearance sales that will be coming up in August, you can probably get a sweet deal. They're not as expensive as you think.

Last August we bought an 04 that actually cost us less than our 99 did because of all the rebates and incentives.

P.S. our 04 Suburban with the hatch has plenty of clearance to open up even with the boat and trailer hooked up.

Here in WI, with the employee discount deal going (up to Aug1 I believe) , you can get a well equipped brand new 4x4 Suburban (no leather) for around $36k which does seem like a good deal. If you've got a fair amount of towing to do and want all the room, everyone who has one seems to love it. We have little towing to do , and too much kid busing around town to do, so the 10mpg city kinda kills it....really would like one though...

How soon till you are in only two car seat and a seatbelt, (how old is your oldest)?? Reason I ask is we thought the same thing but our oldest is out of a car seat. We ended up with the third seat folded in our Explorer and all three kids in the second row most of the time and long trips just blew. So I don’t really see any relief for you in a third row with out going to the larger suv.

We did use our Explorer for a year and a half with the three kids but like I said, trips blew. The last straw was the 04 Explorer we had kept breaking down and we finally bought the bigger SUV..

My oldest will be 4 in Sept. and the new one is not due till Feb. We have some time. We are just checking our options.

I went down to get a new cell phone battery but... the Ford dealer was on the way. I ended up getting a new tow rig and forgot to get the battery....
