Boat Buddy

I Hate that thing too... Its also a pretty hard plastic to be sliding your boat on. I'm probably going to take it off this summer and put a regular bumper there. Plus, makes you look like a rookie on the ramp when the F%&$^# wont release. haha.

The boat buddy can be a pain, but it's somewhat useful. I covered the top of mine with carpet attached with contact cement to keep the plastic from getting on the hull. When loading, after it clicks, I always tighten the winch to keep the boat from pulling on the pin and getting it stuck. When unloading, I always release the boat buddy pin on level ground. That should keep it from getting stuck and making you look like a rookie on the ramp.

I always ran my 1983 SS level while towing. My 197 rides just a bit nose low. Or with the able of the bow it appears that way. I agree to protect the props even now with a prop guard I and very cautious of it.
