Instead of hanging from the rafters, how about making an L-shaped support and insert into the hole for the ski pylon. You don't need to make it too high above the vinyl, and there would be no danger if you move the boat in the garage.

THAT is a great way to make a garage look fine!

Now, get on that teak platform before you catch hell from the teaknuts on this board

Yeah yeah... I was afraid that would get noticed. It started off not so hot and will be the winter project for the teenage son. I am not so obsessed to need furntiure grade but it definately needs to be better than it is. I beg forgivenss from the teaknuts, I am not

I have about an inch top clearance through the door with it laying down. Actually had to roll the board racks on an angle to get the clearance . I would probably wipe it out if I propped it up. I think I would forget that before I would forget the tie up.

Well I found a garage with a house near it! Moved in this past weekend!
Pics will be up as soon as feasible. 3.5 car detached garage which still isn't !*&&%^%#$ deep enough for the 197..... Carpenters are looking the project over now and should have a nice setup in the near future

Anybody have any pics to share????????????????????????

Congrats. I thought it'd been a while since we'd seen you around here. Did you keep the plasma tv?

To me, this forum is about love of inboard boats. It is about the sharing of information and, on a good day, some humor. It is not about post count, brand of boat, or any other superfluous labels that lend themselves to a false sense of superiority. Please, respect one another, try to pass on accurate information, and keep your eye on the ball.

If you're in the market for openers for the garage and like headroom while in the boat, check these out (see pic). They are Wayne Dalton i-drives and attach to your torsion bar. From my experience, they do require more maintenence (balanced door, lubed, etc..), but not having the unit looming above your head is awesome.
