Slalom Wake from a Prostar 205v or equivalent

Great forum guys. Just signed on and can't wait to read what everyone has to say. Was a former MC owner (88 PS 190) and made a bad desicion and purchased a 99 Malibu Response LX. I am now putting it up for sale and looking to get another Master Craft. Was originally looking at the PS 205 put the 205V has stuck my interest. We do everything from just cruising to Barefooting to Slalom to Wake/knee boarding. Just curious how the slalom wakes are behind it since it is the same hull as the 205 but the engine is in backwards. I like the idea of the large sundeck and better wakes for wake/knee boarding with more weight in the stern. We usually have a large group of friends with us and the DD is sometimes a pain. Also I don't want a boat that takes water over the front with 2 riders in the open bow. I have that problem now and its up for sale. Any info is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

I had a '93 Prostar 205 when I was younger and a much more "hardcore" slalom skier. It was a great boat, but not much room, and on a couple of occasions when loaded I got water over the bow.

I now have a '01 205V. It is a great boat for me now. Good for the kids and lots of room. It is great for wakeboarding, surfing, and just general boating. I still slalom ski behind it (my true love) when I can find good water. If you are solely a slalom ski course guy you may find some issues with the wake. I can tear it up behind this boat and have a blast. I have no complaints about the slalom wake. If I do, I just do a quick ski behind an inboard/outboard and realize how good of a wake the 205V has.

Here is the wake at about 31.5 MPH. Faster is better...I've taken water over the bow twice not paying attention. If you pay attention, you'll be fine......

here is the official review from 2000's Powerboat Magazine. They speak very highly of the wakeboarding wake, and say it has a respectable slalom wake as well.

This is the wake behind my 2005 X-2 ( 205 v hull), that I sold last year, @ 33 mph with 100 lbs of sand in the bow and 1/4 tank of gas. I found the slalom wake to be much better with weight in the bow. To me it is a firmer wake with a bit more of a lip on it than a direct drive. To me the wake always looks better from the boat and the only way to tell for yourself is to get behind one. I loved the boat, it just depends on what is more important to you.

When did MC start manufacturing the 205V? I'm sure there is a thread on the history of the 205V / X1.
