I foolishly started this process mid season not knowing it would take this long. Spent hours sanding earlier in the week and just got my 2nd coat of oil on last night. It takes forever to dry here in South Louisiana in the summer with the humidity. I haven't wanted to leave it out in the sun while at work either because it could rain at any time.

Have a family boat outing planned for Saturday and really can't do without the platform. I can probably get one more coat on there with a day or two to dry before then but how much am I setting myself back by wetting the platform?

Obviously it will need to dry out but it seems like I could just pick back up where I left off next week.

New to the site. Just bought a 1984 stars and stripes. My son and I are going to bring it back. Our first project is the teak swim platform. One of the slats cracked. I am looking for thoughts on getting a new teak platform. I guess I could refurbish the one it came with but it is less than terrific. Appreciate thoughts on this.
TIA Phil

We are excited. I read the posts on the site and decided to register. I am ready to use it for now and refurbish it in the fall. I need some teak to start with to replace the one slat that broke before I bought the boat for sure but I think I really want to redo the whole platform.
