Question about transom hook

Hey guys so i have a question and was hoping someone could explain and possibly even provide a picture as well.

I have read a lot about "transom hooks" on the hulls and adding them in and even some people taking them off...My question is, what exactly IS the hook? I have tried to do some research on here and even just the internet in general and all i usually end up with are towing hooks. Could someone please show me/explain about them? .....yeah i'm a newb

Transom Hook

They used to be and I still believe that you can lift the whole boat from the Transom Hook and the bow hook on the front of your boat.

The "hooked transom" describes a modification the factory made to the original evolution hull that debuted in 2001. They sort of designed a wedge at the edge of the transom to improve wake and handling.

I can see why after re-reading OP.

It's MC's fault for calling it a "hook" in the first place. I'd call it a "lip."

JohnE I tried the link in that thread that you sent me for pictures but it could not load.

Does anybody else have any pictures showing this "lip/hook?"

I added a hook to my '77 Stars & Stripes. I should have some pics to post on my laptop. It really isn't much. 20" wide, 3" front to back and tapers to 3/16".
