I have wanted one for years. I also want a 1983 Honda VFR1000R.

Either are breathtaking examples of a day in which no chemical could replace the feeling of twisting the throttle.

100? 1000 my brother! Red White and Blue baby! Can you say Intercepter? I have never ridden the CBX but I remember the magazine I had as a kid with it standing on one wheel and all of that chrome!

Assuming you mean VF1000R, good ones just don't exist anymore. I looked for one for years back in the 90s and there were just no good ones left. That thing was a pig anyway.

The bike I would pay top $ for would be an absolutely mint condition mid 80s Interceptor 500, but those don't exist either. Sport bike riders tend to actually ride their bikes.

They do exist. I have ridden a VF 700 F and a VF 500 F in the last year. The VF (I'm sorry) 1000r is much more rare. It was not a pig as you suugest IMO. If you have ever dragged a knee as I did twenty some years ago you might agree. If you have twisted the throttle full while heading up an up hill double jump on a dirt bike you might also understand. There are lots of these bikes aroud, you just have to take off the blinders to see them. I owned a VF500F as an 18 year old. My hard on still exists for that bike, it was so flickable.... Steve

I've spent my entire life (since I was 5) on bikes including 7 years dragging my knee around Sears Point and Laguna Seca at countless trackdays, and I've ridden all the Honda VF's, from the original Interceptor 500/750s and the the 1000R. By pig, I meant heavy, not slow. It was tall and heavy, especially compared to the sportbikes that quickly followed. By today's standards the VF1000R would be Rosie ODonnell fat.

By 'good ones', I meant low mileage and/or excellent condition bikes. VF1000Rs were generally thrashed and it is almost impossible to find one in great condition. I still keep my eye out for any of the old VFs for sale, hoping to one day stumble upon a pristine stored bike and I never see one. There are tons of crap condition ones out there. The only cool old Hondas that still turn up once and a while in showroom condition are the Nighthawk S's, which are a fun little bike as well. My brother had a red and black one when we were in college and I've always wanted one of those.
