X1 or X2 prop "drive shaft removal"

How do I get the "drive shaft"out of the transmission? I am replacing packing gland...

Are you replacing the packing in the shaft log? There would be no reason to remove the shaft to replace the packing. Just pull it out with some dental tools and replace with 3 new pieces with the ends spaced 120 degrees apart or just add a piece to it. I seriously hope this is not being done on the '06 in your profile. We have a '89 PS190 and I have only added 1 piece in 18 years and 450 hours.

It is a one piece packing gland, so the shaft has to come out to slide on the gland. Yes it was from the friggin RAT, thats all i have left to fix YEEEEEEEE

OK Got shaft out heres how

Ok, so took the nut off the shaft end next to gas tanks remove the four nuts and bolts from brass/metal spline hub also next to gas tank.
Removed prop used shaft as a slide hammer to pop shaft from spline hub tada!!!
