How do you get a picture to show up in your thread,... instead of just an attached image that to have to click on to open to see ???

The easy way is to use the "Manage Attachments" that is listed in the "Additional Options" You will find this under the window where you type you reply. You just need to scroll down a lttle more.

You can have up to 4 images show up in a given post as part of the post rather than attachments, but those images have to be hosted somewhere on an accessible web server, either server space you buy from someone like iPowerweb or Godaddy, or image hosting sites like Pbase or smugmug. Pbase in particular is very cheap IMHO ($23/year for 400 megabytes). Once you have pictures stored there, you can link to them using the icon in the message edit window and they'll show up in your post.
