um... Photoshop? Take a close look at the original. It was probably a surfer jumping a wave or something like that.

the light colored area might be spray mist?

I saw a show a while ago about the Coast Guard and how they would purposely turn the boats broadside to a cresting wave in order to flip the boat over. Apparently lead in the hull of the boat casues it to self right and drive away
