7. Prop dimensions (# of blades and pitch)---------13.7 X 22 (nibral)
8. Octane of fuel--------------------------------------------92
9. Normal operating Elevation--------------------------2062
10. Anything else you want to add that may make performance different

Switched props to 13.7 X 17 and got 5400 (rev limiter and 42 mph-but a larger pitch prop will be the key)

Clearly the boat is overpropped as it cannot get to max RPM's wth the 22, next spring we are going to try a 19.5 pitch from OJ and also try prop from Acme ... the original OEM prop was SS but cracked during the first season and was replaced on warranty with the 22 pitch OJ

Top speed w/ 5 people in the boat and one footer was 44-45 mph this weekend. Pulling triple footers and no passengers top speed is 43 mph.

1. Max RPM at Wide Open Throttle -5800 NO LOAD + clean water
2. Max Speed at Wide Open Throttle - did not hold it that long but my radar gun said 49 MPH at 5000 RPM
3. Year of Boat 1985
4. Manf. & Model MC PS190 Barefoot special Stars and Stripes
5. Engine Pleasure Craft 454 HO - totally rebuilt w/ rollor cam.
6. Transmission gear ratio 1.5:1
7. Prop dimensions (# of blades and pitch) 13.5x19.5 4 Blade OJ CNC
8. Octane of fuel 89+
9. Normal operating Elevation 600 Ft.
10. Anything else you want to add that may make performance different - 400 Ft Lbs tork from 1100 to 6000 RPM, 420 HP at 4200 RPM. Balanced and ready for a blower (Rods are rated at 750 HP and Stainless non welded valves) but I like it the way it is, heck 50 MPH and you hit a big wake - you better have your hand on the throttle and back off. I've allready got too many Gelcoat spider webs now.

I'm using straight exaust pipe, 4" OD all the way. I lifted my box 1/2 inch in the front (closest to the tow bar) eventually I will lift the entire box 1/2" front to back. This winter I am going to make SS exaust primary pipe from the manifold to the exist straight pipe, install another back flow device inside just before the inserts and couple it all togather with the existing rubber (got to have some flex), I'm going 'down under' style.

I have the original prop 3 blade 14" was modified from 18 to 20 pitch. I could get Red Line 6K RPM. I changed it to a 14.5x22 4 blade it was a little sluggist out of the hole and could only get about 4.3K RPM. OJ sent me a new prop and I'm thinking I like it. It is a 14"x19.5 4 blade CNC. I get higher RPM, better econonmy and it's still strong on the take off. My son was pulling my big fat $## up and he said he hit 4K. As soon as I got up I went head over heals. I guess he should have backed off a little when I surfaced. Props, Props, Props .... I think the one I have now needs to have a little more cup, say 20 or 21, but the 22 would not get above 4300 RPM and it seemed slugish. I still haven't seen +50 MPH no matter, it seems like that is all she'll do no matter what prop. That little 3 blade 14x20 SS that was modified would do some weird stuff. You could be going 35 MPH turn make a 180 turn and she was strong, jumping out of the water. Maybe that's why when I purchaced the boat it had a blown engine. 6K was nothing and I blue'd the SS prop the first day. Cavatation.

We seak power, no cavation except under extream load, no redline RPMS and performance. This has been fun.
