Help with noise coming from dash!

Hi All,

First ever post!

Have a 2006 X7 and last weekend when turning key and starting it in the morning there was a high pitched constant noise coming from behind the dash. Even without the engine running and just the key turned it stayed on. Think that it might be caused by the depth finder as that is flashing at me. Anyway, I am attaching pictures of a relay and some sort of audible device that the sound is coming from. Anyone know what this is for and why the alarm noise?

Thanks,

Travis

The audible device looks like the alarm for a depth finder. It looks very similar to the alarm for the aftermarket lowrance I installed in my ProStar. My guess is the alarm is because the depth finder is on and the alarm setting for minimum depth is going off. You can set a depth for the depth finder to alarm at if the water gets too shallow. You can probably do a google search for the manual for the depth finder in your boat to see how to turn off/set the alarm.

Ok thanks. That's what I was thinking. But it doesn't shut off. Even in deeper water. So I feel like something else is going on. Anyone know if the factory depth finder in my x7 has a manual? I don't even know, who the manufacturer is.

I have a 2006 x9 and I have no alarm. The display just says "shallow" when I get shallow.

Can you just pull the alarm out? Did you just get the boat?

Your alarm could be set to go off at 50, 75, even 99 feet. I'd start there.

OK thanks. I removed the relay at the end of it to get it to stop. Anyone have any idea how to set the depth alarm?

Bump, sounds like we have he same thing going on in my brothers 05 197. Anytime key is on alarm is going off. Depth find her occasionally starts flashing, but sometimes it works. Anyone know where the alarm and relay are located? We think we are going to start looking there. Thanks
