Perfect pass up button fix

My perfect pass up button quit working shortly after I got the boat, mysteriously it started working again and made it through the first season. Last summer it went on strike again sometime in August. I know the parts are no longer available, I would have to purchase the multi line display and a new firmware chip. So, knowing I would be discarding the old one I decided to see if I could "rig up" a fix.

Opened up the control head and began poking around.

Followed the connector and rang out the connections

Determined the two outer pin locations were where the switch would be jumpers to. Drilled a hole in the faceplate wired up the leads from a momentary push button switch.

Put it all back together and it seems to be working.

The kids are taking the boat out today so I'll certainly hear from them if it is not fixed, or I shorted something out LOL.

I play a Mechanical Engineer during the day.
My first job out of college was at a Printed Circuit Board/Cable contractor quoting, designing and troubleshooting electro-mechanical assemblies.

Good job. I always hate throwing away perfectly good stuff for something like a button that doesn't work.

Also, mine's the multi-line display.

I have PP... just not stargazer. You're welcome to come surfing on Smithville. My Supra guage works fine, no need for Romans. I just want Romans master module
