X23 Additional Ballast

Is anyone running POP products ballast bags in there x23? I have 1000lbs of extra POP weights in mine, and trying to really fine tune it. Looking for reccomendations of what others have done.

I have 240lbs in the bow.
I have 360lbs under port tower foot
I have 240lbs under star tower foot
I have 80lbs in port rear locker above hard tank, under soft bag
I have 80lbs in star rear locker above hard tank, under soft bag.

Thoughts?

I have extra lead in our 18' X23. It works best all in the back. I line the rear lockers with all of the lead evenly on both sides. It doesn't like lead in the front. 400-500lbs as far back as possible works great. Take all your bow weight out and your "foot" placement weight and just put 400-500lbs in the very back under the stock bags. It fits and won't have any issues.

Holy crap. 1K extra in lead?

I've got to see pictures of this wave.

I'm ordering a 18 X23. I usually run with 5 to 7 people in the boat. Hoping I don't need anything extra.

TheWoons,

Thanks for the tip, I have having problems where the boat wants to porpoise at 30mphs, I have put everyone up front, and it still does it, If I had all the weight in the back, I would think it would be even worse, are you having a problems with that?
Others on forums say the x23 likes the weight midship, that is why I tried it the way I did, your the first to say all in the back

If the boat is proposing, just put the center tab down to 50% and the problem will be solved.

Is that hard on the tab Dave? It seems boat is unstable when I try that

As Aric said, that is exactly what the center tab is designed to do. use it.

A few hundred pounds of lead in the rear lockers is the best setup we have found too... any additional weight in the front really kills the wave it seems...even if you add more weight in the rear to compensate.

Midship is okay too (from tower mounts rearward), I just don't think you get much bang for your buck that way.

We just run about 300 pounds of lead in the rear, slightly bias to the port side. with a small crew the wave is awesome, but it can still handle a large crew... if you too much weight in the rear and have a large crew the boat will struggle to maintain speed.
