New MC graphics adhesive / bonding quality

Anyone else with newer boat (with 3D graphics) noticing various letters coming loose? Had this happen. Wind from trailering at hwy speed worked itís way under the letter and bent it up 90 deg. When I went to fold it back in place it just broke off.

In my automotive experience a proper bond should have cohesive failure of the bonding material...meaning the adhesive itself tears and doesn't pull away from the bonding surface (boat or graphic).

Pretty crazy if trailering caused that.

I have very similar issues with mine. The edges are peeling up. I ordered my registration numbers from doomed numbers online and am thinking about going that route to replace them. Thinking that will also make it easier to wax/wash the side. Talked to my dealership and I don't remember exactly what the cost of those were to replace them but I remember my jaw about hitting the floor...

Man.. thats crazy. having only used the 3m Emblem adhesive, I've never seen that occur on something like this. Bummer too as to replace, you have to order the entire thing from MC.. But if its under warranty, make sure they only replace the one letter and you keep the rest just in case :-)

That graphic is $345 from MC parts. Makes me sick. I called the dealer and he said this is not all that uncommon. Apparently MC needs to do a better job cleaning the waxes from the hull mold off the gel coat do a proper bond can occur. However, I’m not having any luck in getting this done on warranty yet. Questioning my cleaning and waxing practice, etc.... sort of infuriating. Dealer did say he’s been buying graphics and selling the individual letters.
