2vs4 Tower Speakers

Recently we've been looking at getting a new X-30, we've been searching for one with 4 speakers on the tower but we're finding that is getting more and more hard to find. Are the extra 2 speakers up top worth the wait? How expensive would it be to add 2 more to 2014 or 2015 model? Thanks for your input, we've had 4 on our 03, but with 2 being blown listening to music while wakeboarding is next to impossible. I guess what I'm really asking is, are the newer speakers more powerful and therefore you only need 2? Or is 4 worth the wait/additional cost to add them?

Seen them on ebay for 699 USD for the non billet speaker cans.
Or Crutchfield has Black 7.7s

850.
or 8.8's

You'll need the mounting brackets as well for 149.
Billet cans will run you a lot more.

I have never had trouble hearing my 2 rev 8's while wakeboarding. Going with 2 rev 10's on the new boat.

More about quality than quantity. Properly powered and quality 2 speakers are just as good if not better than 4. Another downside of 4 is you can hit your head on them more easily :P

Two pair will absolutely deliver more output than one pair, when comparing adding a 2nd identical pair. Can be a different story if one was comparing 2 pair of smaller speakers to a single pair of larger. However, of you main focus is wake-boarding, id consider a single pair of larger HLCD over 2 pair of smaller coaxial.

Two 7.7 jl's that come on the tower will run you $2600usd for billet with fwd lights. $600usd for two 7.7's plastic black can. Depends what you want. I had four on my 08 x15 and I loved how loud it was. But it was more to do with the Amp set up than the 2 extra speakers. Start with two if you find a boat you want to buy and add two cans later. We r dealing on a 2015 x30 with two billet cans with lights. I would like four but I'm pulling my new amp that I bought last year and put in the x15 and swapping out the amps (x30 amp for my better upgraded x15 amp). Then I'll see how it sounds before I commit to another $2000-$2600 (lights or no lights).

Having it tuned properly is something else I'll pay for. Worth the $$
