Proping up an old school MasterCraft

Its a slow day at work today, so I got to thinking, just for the fun of it how can my boat go faster. My dad brought me up going fast on the water so its kinda in my blood. I know that speed isnt what these boats are made for but has anyone tried to prop up a old school stile straight inboard MasterCraft?

To much wetted surface (hull in the water) to make it go fast. I added 100 hp when I repowered my 96 PS 190 and top speed increased by 5 MPH

What about the corvette boats? From what I understand its a Malibu hull with the LS from a corvette. Theres a couple on the lake and they give my dads checkmate a run for its money at 65+. Adding horse power wont do very much with the same gear and wheel witch is why I would say you only saw a 5 mph gain
