I suppose if you could get it for $5K and had the time and money to put another $10-12K in to it, you'd come out ahead. If I had the space and it wasn't on the other side of the country, I'd be trying to think of ways to convince my wife I should have it. I figure I could pay for the fiberglass repair, get a buddy to weld the tower, recover the engine cover on my own. Figure 2-3K in skins, I could probably rebuild the cushions and install the skins on my own. Depending on how bad the engine is, clean and bore the block, new pistons and rings and whatnot. Re-use the existing engine accessories. Probably wouldn't have much in the way of luxuries, but I do think it would be possible to get that back out on the water for less than what it would cost to find another 02 X30.

I might be way out of line here, but I really do think that if you weren't in a rush, you could probably have it fairly well rebuilt/restored for under $20K. (quick search shows an 02 X30 for $25K on a popular boat selling site)
Wish I could find something similar on my side of the country.

edit: current price jumped up to $9220. Quickly approaching 'not worth it'.

At $9k, doing the Fiberglass work and tower repair myself, rebuild the engine, redo the interior myself with new skins, 2k for miscellaneous could probably get it done for around $17-18k not including my time.

Unfortunately it takes me so long to get this stuff done that a used 2002 X30 would probably cost about $17-18k by the time I finished.

Not to mention I'd probably end up needing a TPS sensor or a Crank Position Sensor that is no longer available thus ending up stuck floating by the dock drinking beer.
