Gas powered scooter

So I got this gas scooter with basically a weed eater engine on it. I am trying to get it running but it requires a key and we cannot find the key. It also has an on and off switch on the handlebars. Is there a way to bypass the key via jumping it with a wire? This canít be that difficult but I cannot get it to fire.

I got excited because I bought one a few weeks ago with summer job money to use to get around campus. Unfortunately I can't give you any hot wiring tips lol

The "key" switch I'm sure is just a 2 wire, NC or NO switch. Depending if a ground or power wire is run to it.
If the circuit is open when key off, jump the 2 wires together. If it's closed when key off then disconnect one wire.

It is just two wires and I did try to jump them together with no luck. I will try to disconnect one to see how it goes. I will see if I can provide some pics. I need to put the pic ap on my new phone.
