I've skied HOs since ~1999. The VType-R is amazing! But I've been told i needed a 65 or 66.

I'm sure, you're a much better, and faster skier..than me. Every mfg has different recommendation, base on total ski design. Probably, only thing similar to your V-type-R and
my A3 is the HO!

A3 you'd be a 67, VT-R you'd be a 66 S2 Maybe a 65.5

HO weights/sizes have been kind of all over for a bit.

I'm not really that good... I've come very close to running -28 at 34 mph this year several times... But my best in a tournament is 5 at -22 Kama 34 mph... and that was 2 days ago

It took me at least 10 to 12 sets to really get into that new ski, but now there's no going back LOL
