Ok...measured it. The plastic plug is a 7/8-14 straight thread. Same as a R-10 STOR in a hyd fitting.

I know it's an old thread but for future reference one could use paste based pipe tread sealant like Masters Pro Dope. I prefer pro dope to plumbers tape.

Or...you can replace the plastic plug with a LED drain plug light from Diablo....an inexpensive way for LED underwater lighting....only $40.

I just went through this, mine was stripped. I just bought a 3/4 inch brass t handle and hull fitting on ebay. I had to slightly enlarge the hole. Just used a small bit and shaved a little off where needed. 10 min job... I thought it was bs design as well. Don't buy one from skidim they sent the wrong one.

I switched mine out in 2009 as the plastic one was stripped as well. Same procedure as above. It was an easy fix to a problem that never should have been there.
