I've used the 3M self vulcanizing as well with very good results on the wire harness cable that goes between the trailer and truck. I taped it up about 4 years ago and is still working great. The stuff is easy to use and abrasive resistant.

Curious what you're using- I'm not shooting muskrats, but never had a problem with hollowpoint pellets taking down furry pests.

If you have neighbors, I recommend the CCI Quiet 22 round for furries. I think it's subsonic. Less than 70dB. If you are using a semi automatic, you will need to manually cycle. Not much louder than a high powered pellet gun.
