Muskrat damage?

Power went out at the dock last weekend so I had to let the boat float overnight...I think the X2 was brutally attacked by a hungry muskrat. Tab still works, but any suggestions on what to use to cover up the damage to protect the wires? Just want to do everything I can do to keep water out and functional.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

yep they make rolls of heat shrink instead of the usual tube that would require pulling those wires. wrap it up good and put a heat gun on it to seal it all up.

Could be worse. I had an otter decide the vinyl on my pontoon boat was really tasty. He liked it so much he took a few bites out of every panel before finally settling on a favorite.

Assume I can pick this up at a Lowes/Home Depot vs having to go to West Marine?

I think self-vulcanizing tape is what you're after. Like this stuff- LINK Seen it at West Marine, might be able to find it in Lowes/Home Depot.

As far as sealing the damage goes, I think I would put some silicone or maybe liquid electrical tape over the chewed areas, then while it's still tacky, start wrapping a few layers of the 3M tape over the top. Basically a double seal over the damage.
