You have a clip-down distributor cap. You will need to know that (VS screw down) later on if you modify any of the distributor.

Update

Sorry for the radio silence on this project.
Update:
I got it to fire up! Motor sounds great and strong. Turns out the points in the distributor needed to be cleaned up. Carb needs a rebuild, so Iím gonna take it in for that.

I also want to switch to the electronic ignition. I donít want to buy the whole distributor assembly, just what fits into the original distributor with a new cap. Any suggestions on which product and from where?

I also bent the prop while working on the boat. Total drag. I walked to the back of the boat with it not secured down and it tipped and bent the prop. Any suggestions for a new one?

If I can get the carb, Ignition, and prop taken care of, it will be ready for a test drive! Iíll post a video!

Summit Racing for the EI module and get a Flamethrower II epoxy filled coil.

Send your prop to a local prop shop for repairs. If you're in for a new one: Wakemakers dot com / Acme 541 13 x 12 LH / diameter as per your shaft.

OJ Props dot com for a new one and that fellow will repair your old one for free (as a spare).

(thanks)

I've been rebuilding Holley carburetors since 1982. I can probably help with that.

I noticed that curved windshield too and it had me wondering.

This is how it looks right side up.

Here are some more updates in this project:
Found out it’s an 81’, not an 83’. Good catch all!
Got the carb rebuilt at a local shop. 350$
Got prop repaired for 90$
Got it on the lake and it ran awesome!
Needs new speedos (or fixed). Not sure where to start with this?
Bildge pump does not work. Any suggestions where to start? Does this need to be a proprietary if I replace it, or are they universal?
Broke the ignition rotor while at the lake the second time. Ordered the points eliminator/electronic ignition kit.
Trying to get it fixed for a few more runs before winter hits.
Will need some new upholstery and carpet. Anyone know ROUGHLY what this should run?
