ZFT2 to ZFT4 tower upgrade

I was recently able to piece together all the parts I needed to upgrade my 2012 X-15 from the ZFT2 tower it came with to the ZFT4 tower. I recycled the board racks and speakers. Started out with me and a friend but quickly turned into a 3 person job that we could have definitely used a 4th. If you don't know these things are heavy, awkward and don't come apart or go back together easily.

Sorry I've only got before and after pics, didn't have anyone to take pics of the project in progress, plus it got dark on us and we ended up finishing up in the middle of the night.

If anyone's looking for zft2 legs, tower header or bimini let me know, I'm thinking $2,000 for it all. Let me know if I'm out to lunch with the price.

Jeremy

ZFT2 to ZFT4 tower upgrade

Nice job! How much u got into the new tower? Also what did u do for under gunnel support. I had a dealer tell me that it's a tremendous amount of work involved to the under gunnel area to make it strong enough to support a 2 leg tower if it was only designed for 4pt. This on a x25. He said that the entire under gunnel area is reinforced for like 12 ft! It's far more than just a couple plates molded in. I have my doubts.

Oh was thinking this was a 4pt to 2pt conversion! What was wrong with the original tower? Is the zft4 that much better?

Well.... In my opinion the zft2 tower is heinous. the zft 4 can also be trailered in the down position and is a little easier to fold.

The ZFT4 is just easier to manage all around. It folds down about 2" lower and I think looks better. The bimini is a one person job and super easy and the swivel racks are pull knobs instead of screw knobs.

Nordicon, I've also heard the same thing about reinforcement under the deck but have seen people with 215s add the zft2 tower to their boats, so it can be done.
