197 vs. 205 vs. 205V

I apologize in advance for the rook question, but would someone please tell me what the difference is between a Prostar 197 and 205? I realize with the 205V it's a V drive and the engine is in the rear, but otherwise is the difference in the wake or are the size differences?

Any info is much appreciated.

The 205 is close to a foot longer, the length is in the bow. 1992-1995 is a great ski boat a little better wake than the 197. The 1996 and later 205's are more of a everything boat, little better wake for boarding and higher sides and a little more room than the older. The 205v, I don't know much about, but from what I understand has a great wake for boarding and easily surfable.

The 197/x7 are the same, which means a 197 weighted a little provides a good wake for boarding. Think some folks have been able to surf as well. It has less shortline spray than the older 205's but the wake has a little more edge.

From my intermediate experience ski wakes as follows:
1st 1992-1995 prostar/prosport
Close 2nd 197
3rd 1996 and later 205 dd
4th 205v

Reverse this order if boarding is most important. Hope it helps you decide!

Can't argue with any of this.
