Prestolite distributor cap clips

So i just did the Pertronix Ignitor ii upgrade. Fun stuff. Anyway during disassembly the clips that hold down the cap broke as soon as I turned the screw. The distributor is a marine Prestolite, classic 351w. No one seems to have these clips for sale. Any ideas where a guy can find a set short of buying a whole distributor?

the clips are no longer available, swap the cap to the screw down type and see if that'll work
otherwise https://www.ebay.com/itm/SB-FORD-MAR...9ZwaPI&vxp=mtr

Screw downs and clips are different application if I recall correctly.

Someone may have made the swap and know for a fact it works. Make sure.

I think something aside from the configuration was different.

I may have a set in the shop I'll look in the morning. No guarantees....

The ebay reference isn't close. The ebay item is for timing advance springs in the bottom of the well.

He needs cap hold down clips.

To the OP:
I was not able to locate any clip parts in my parts bins. Sorry I couldn't help. If you find a source, please update.

Well that's funny, cause when I click on the link it comes up with distributor cap hold down springs for a clip down cap.

Part number RK127031 and it's what he's looking for. Punch in RK 127031 on EBAY and see what comes up

Why don't you put up a link to the timing springs Waterlogged? they're just as rare and somebody might want them

I went ahead and ordered those off ebay so I'll find out in a few days if they work. I'm still curious if the screw down caps will fit the clip type distributor. The diameter is the same, seems like it would screw down where the clips are on the clip-type. If the clips don't work then I'll be "that guy" and try the other cap. Gotta love these old motors. Thanks for the input everyone.

Glad you got them Speed3guy.

Don't worry,they'll fit

The screwdown cap won't work because the brackets that the screws go into are different. I've tried this before in case you're wondering. So you don't have to be "that guy" You don't think Prestolite would make things that easy do you?

The rotor is different too and in your case you just bought a Pertronix kit for the clipdown and it won't work in the screwdown unless you get a new magnetic sleeve to fit the different rotor.

If the clips don't fit, send me a PM and I'll send you some old ones I have
