What grit of paper did you use? Wet/dry obviously?

I just finished mine a couple of weekends ago. I wetsanded the transom with 600, 1000, 1500, and 2000, then used a makita wool pad and 3m perfect it rubbing compound, then used a 3m perfect it ultrafine foam pad with 3m finesse it finishing compound. I used a neiko ct6101 for the buffing and polishing.

Your results were great but you did a lot of unnecessary sanding. 3M Super Duty Compound with a wool pad will remove the 1000 grit scratches so you can eliminate the 1500 and 2K sanding.

Would you still use the 600 to start, then the 1000, followed by the 3M Super Duty with a wool pad? Or just start with the 1000 then move on with the compound etc?

I started with 600 because I made a few gelcoat repairs and used the 600 to sand those down. If you just have oxidation, I think starting with 1000 would be fine.

My goal is to remove some shadowing from old to new decal placement. For those of you that have removed the shadowing, did you tape over the new decals or what? And then use the 1000 followed by the compound etc?
