Trailer Brake Light Grommet

I put the boat in the lake a week or so ago and came back to see a tail light dangling and the rubber grommet missing. So i bougjt a new one and out the boat in yesterday, came home to find the same fn light dangling and the grommet gone.

Why would this keep happening?

Mine does that too, the oval hole in the trailer is too large. You should get a black door edge protector, put a 6" section on the top and bottom of the hole before re-installing the light with a new grommet.

I have that problem too. I was just going to put a zip tie around the whole thing. Red neck I know, but I hate getting home and seeing the light dangling because I forgot to check it after we pulled out. (The kids do the wipe down most of the time, so they don't notice that kind of thing.)

A couple wraps of duct tape around the light will get the job done too. I have them. I think they are $2.50 plus whatever postage there is. Should be able to pick these up locally if you have the inclination. Shoot me an email at [email protected] if I can help.

I had the problem with one light on my '09 trailer - I squirted a bit of clear silicone caulk top & bottom behind the lip & it seemed to hold it in place. Sold the boat, but it lasted for the few years I owned it.

Had same problem. Clear silicone adhesive works great and has been working fine for a number of years.
