Sorry for the $$$ on your dash. I heard about Lexus, the coating or paint was coming off dashes in a big way.

The Class Action on the dashes was filed in Federal Court of Eastern Michigan. I'm signing up when they get it out to the public for signatures, the lawsuit claimed dashes from 2007 - 2014, although the article says 2009 to 2014.

I have a 2011 work van for carpet cleaning that just had a cam lobe chewed off on number 7 on a 6.2. I thought maybe I just had a ridiculously bad luck. I hope this turns into a class action because this is been a major blow to my business

well in 2014 they didn't get it right either.. my 6.2 with 54k lost #4, new cam new valves all around... under warranty...

I thought the 6.2 went AFM in 2014 not 2010... 2010-2013 was normal engine without AFM the 5.3 was AFM starting in 2010???

I asked them why not put in a new motor probably cheaper... but apparently it isn't... they fixed it... for now...

I priced out a new truck with the same specs more or less and a new truck was 10k more than I paid for mine.. so worst case I can just buy a new motor for 7k and still come out 3k ahead... without AFM ...

Had the dash on my 07 Avalanche replaced at 110K miles out of warranty. It was a few years back and a known issue so GM took care of the cost of the dash and I just had to pay labor. Think it was just under 300. 150K now on my AFM 5.3 and still going strong. I need to put a quart of oil in around the 50% mark when I do a lot of towing but thats to be expected when you're at the weight limit.

I had to replace a cracked dash on my '07 Avalanche a few years ago. I also paid around $1,000 - $1,250 IIRC. It's interesting to learn that this is a common problem. Will be following that lawsuit.

Denali Owners - 2010 +

My 2010 6.2 Yukon Denali with 62k had AFM

Fortunately never had a problem with it

Just traded for a 2018 Nissan Armada Platinum Reserve

To many headaches with GM quirks and problems and them not standing behind their vehicles

My 2006 Tahoe 5.3 (traded for the above 2010 Denali) had the dreaded bad heads that leaked antifreeze into the oil. There were thousands of those heads that had bad castings and GM wouldn't touch taking care of them. Said it was a third party vendor and they weren't responsible for that vendors quality control

This excuse really pi$$es me off. Do they chose the 3rd party or the consumer?

Castech who made the heads response was it would cause financial burden to their company if they were to be held responsible for the problem they created by poor casting techniques...

I asked why I had to carry the burden as a consumer and they had zero response...

No class action suit was ever pursued that I'm aware of...

Problem is that attitude is becoming a "norm" even to this day no matter what vehicle/product you buy

Sad!

I think I'm going to keep my 08, it's too good of a shape to get rid of, looks like a 14 if I changed the body side molding. For, me daily...hmmm, might find another 2015 GLK 350 - knock on wood, they have been outstanding for us, I like the looks, peppy, I'll look around but I'll keep the non AFM Denali around.

Dates for 6.2 AFM, not really shure, I found the 2010 date on the Yukon forum from a guy who is a tech, but hey, on the internet it must be true right?

My sons, well it's on the trade block. It is as mint as mine but this is second repair for lifters. I'm not sure I can take another chance of it happening again, especially out of warranty. I did get the AMF delete module, just want to try it. If we trade, I'll make someone here a good deal on it.
