Regardless of all of that, the guy's driving how he should be. Heading straight into the waves is about all you can do there, but it was just too much. I'm not sure how everyone on that boat didn't have a life vest on though.
Not sure I agree. When you’re running boats like that, any kind of precipitation should be taken seriously.

Im not disputing that, just may have fallen outside of the timing window the weather service advised on. Without knowing all the details its hard to tell.

Caution should certainly come before tourist dollars 100%.

So Sad. If the video from the cell phone is the boat that sank killing 11; I have to ask why did all of those people not abandon ship once the boat started to take on water? I would have been off that thing regardless of the weather, and they must by regulation have life jackets for all on board by regulation.

I guess the plexiglass sides held them in and they couldn't get out. So sad.

So what is the allure of riding a duck boat tour on the lake?

I believe this to be the case as well. the only way out would have been out the back. You can see how people didn't make it once it went down. so sad

I rode the ducks many years ago, and they didn’t have plexiglass. Not saying this one didn’t but it sounds like they just got trapped inside and were just sucked down as the boat sank.

So many what ifs in this situation... Like someone said above, as soon as it took on water I’d be bailing out and working to get to the restaurant. Just a horrific accident all the way around.

If I was at that restaurant, I don't think I'd be sitting there video taping all of that happen. I'd have put my life vest on and jumped in my boat to try and help. I likely would have sunk my boat too, but at least try to help these people.

I don't know what it would have taken, or if anything could have been done, but if I could get 10-15 people off that thing and then get them to the dock and do it over again, it would have been worth it. Too bad that runabout didn't realize the situation those ducks were in, they might have been able to help.

Just sitting here thinking the same thing. I'd rather take my chances with a vest on and swimming toward shore than sitting in that boat as you can tell it is in obvious trouble.
