'83 S & S

Anybody seen this boat in person?

I have about a day or so to let him know if I'm going to buy it and make the arrangements to go pick it up. Just came out of a detail shop & why the stickers were removed. Firm on price if I take the new stickers he is sourcing, $5,500 without them & I source/install after.

Thoughts?

And please don't go buy it out from under me...already had that happen a month ago with an '89 PS190 with 200 hours documented.

Thanks.

Wow the exterior looks great! A freshened up interior and that will be pristine! Good luck!

Thanks, that's what I thought too, just looking for some reassurance from people in here with more experience than me, especially due to the 7+ hour trip to/from to go get it. Been looking for a while and this one checked all my boxes, especially the metal flake (I have a vintage vehicle affliction/disease).

Interior won't be freshened up until I feel I'm out of the "my kid will wreck it any way" phase, but this looks very serviceable as-is.

Looks like it really just needs a little scrub. And the flake was pretty rare IIRC.

Most '83's (if not all) were metalflake. I'm not sure if the red over grey was rare or not.

If you do go to look at the boat check the platform brackets. They were installed with lag bolts at the MC plant. Some have pulled loose and created leaks into the wood transom and foam cavities under the floor. There are threads on here explaining how to change this to a "through hull" connection. Good looking boat!

Thanks for the input guys. I had another conversation with the owner & waiting on a few more photos, but in all likelyhood I'll be driving out next weekend to grab it.
