Clear coat or clear gelcoat on S&S stripe
I will need to do something with my stripe on my S&S in the near future. It is down to the flake. I was all set on spraying clearcoat, but has anyone ever used clear gelcoat on there boat? Both seem about the same price. Would gel hold up better or longer? I would try spraying myself.
Any thoughts? |

Jim did an amazing restoration, and thread, on his boat. I believe he clear-coated, but I didn't have an hour to go through his thread.

Doesnt the metalflake gel have a layer of clear gel over it from the factory? Thats my understanding.
Im not sure why clear paint would be the preferred method, unless its simply a matter of people being uninformed or afraid of working with gel. The gel will be much more durable. |
