For slalom, I'd take the 94 as described above. But still, I suspect that boat is a 93, which I also would take over the 98 205, which is an excellent boat, especially if you want something that wakeboards better. But, for a slalom boat with an open bow, my preference is the first generation 205, regardless of what engine it has in it.

This is not to say that a 98 doesn't have a good ski wake. But I have my preference, and I have spent a lot of time skiing behind both hulls.

The only wood anywhere near any of these boats are the bunk boards on the trailers. There is no wood in a 93 or 94 MasterCraft.

If your not looking to surf, this boat can do pretty much everything else..

Not a fan of the low price, but your getting an awesome boat. I have the 94 with the Indmar Chevy EFI.

By 1993? My recollection is that that was the first year the panel backing was not wood.

In any event, my 1993 205 did not have wood backed coaming pads or other side panels. And I definitely looked. Based on its condition when I first purchased it, I doubt my boats previous owner was the type to change that sort of stuff out.

Edit. Your 94 has wood backed coaming pads? Apart from my experience, I'll take your word for it if I'm wrong or my memory has failed.

Oh, and I forgot about the swim platforms. The pretty ones were made of wood.

My '93 had wood in the back seat base. I replaced it with composite decking when I re-upholstered. I never had the side panels off so can't comment on them. But yes, definitely no wood in the hull.

He sent us a picture of your boat from Google images when we first asked about it since he was out of town. We are going to pick it up on Saturday and take it for a test run. From what he says, it runs as good as the first day he brought it home. I am not as much worried about it being EFI. The other boat I looked at had too many unknowns. This is my first real ski boat and am pumped.

You will be happy with the boat/engine. Once you learn the intricacies of the Holley 4160 (I hope it has that and not the 4010...which is possible because of where the coil is mounted) you'll never know the difference. Don't let the nay-sayers and buttercups fool you. That 351 is the berries... A clean 4160 with a fresh EI module and a FTII coil, it will start before the key gets back to the run position.

However you are getting a 93 yer model unless I am really mistaken by the year-model equipped trends. I have never seem a 351 in a 94, but there is a lot too that I have never seen.

Check the hull ID if it is really important to you, but either year model; the hull is the same.
