It is 300% less reliable than the average car, and a QX owner must feel the way an owner of an E.M.F. model felt: What's going to go wrong with my car today?"

Current reliability is rated as average which is a step up from this review.

"The QX is very large and plush, with a quiet cabin and a steady ride. But handling is ungainly. The seven speed automatic and 400-hp, 5.6L V8 provide strong performance, but it gobbles premium fuel, returning just 15 mpg overall. The tall step-up into the cabin is an swkward climb. Cargo is plentiful, and there's a usable third row seat. Handling is cumbersome in everyday driving and doesn't shine at its limits. Electronic safety aids include land-departure and blind-spot warning systems and a panoramic rear-view camera."

A buddy of mine has one and is unpleased with the reliability of his. If you want as big a piece of steel as you can get, a Suburban will tow better. There is only one time I love my Suburban and that is when my boat or utility trailer is behind it because it tows like a dream. The rest of the time these large vehicles are worthless.
2006 model is a complete different car than the 2010-present model, nothing is the same........

Comparing a 2006 QX to a 2013 QX is like comparing a 1980 Mastercraft to a 2013 MC

Are any of the big SUV's really reliable though? My only other credible option will be the new Yukon/Tahoes but those aren't going to be released until next year.

Really wasn't a fan of the QX when I was in the market for a new SUV. Test drove that, the Lexus LX, Porsche Cayanne, and settled on the Mercedes GL 550. The GL is a great platform and the 350 diesel would be great for towing, and cost you a lot less than the 550. Don't really tow with it much as we use a Ram Cummins, but it would definitely do great

Tell me about it! I drive paid off cars, so I'll be lucky to pick one of these up in 6-7 years :-)
