08 197 with MCX performance?

Wife and are looking at upgrading from our current 92 PS 190 and we are looking at a 08 197 with the MCX. Anyone on here have a similar set up and how does it perform? Specifically wondering how it barefoots? I was looking at 6L because of top end (brother has an X9 with MCX and it's just enough top end for footing us), pondering if MCX in this boat will be enough power....Thanks in advance for any insight.

Re the X9- Do you mean footing with both of you or just one?

Asking because my x9 with LTR foots me easily with as many as 5 people in the boat.

Not sure on slot or 1x1. I will find out tomorrow.

The X9 with MCX runs about 43 with no footer and 40 with a footer. Tough for us to lift a foot at that speed at our weight, age and skill level.

I've got an 02 197 with the 6.0L. It pulls me footin with 5-6 people in the boat and I am 265 on a good day... Never tried pulling 2 footers since my brother & I are the only 2 that do it & the only 2 we trust to drive while one of us is doing it...

Don't know that the engine is going to make much of a difference on the top speed. I'm sure others have listed all the differences in engines on here. I suspect it's more about torque with the MCX vs 6L. The issue with top speed is the hull. Keith St. Onge experimented with multiple engines when MC sponsored him, and ultimately needed a supercharger to get to solid footing speeds.

My 197 was just fine off the boom, but at longline reaching max speeds of 43 w/o a footer wasn't enough. Loved the boat other than that.

I should specify, mine was a powerslot.

Wow. I didn't know any MC hit more than 45-46. That's awesome to get 48 out of the 197 hull.

You're killing me, I'd love to buy your boat. I'm the same guy that sent you the message the other night about your boat. Slightly out of the range of what I'm looking to spend, but great boat and your asking price really did make me think twice. I've found a couple 07 and 08's more in my range....I have to balance getting 4 kids through private school and college with my love of the water. Good luck with your sale.
