X25 Fuel Leak

Just bought a new to me 2013 X25 and got it home after about a 950 mile drive. Noticed a strong fuel smell when I took the cover off. I traced it to fuel puddling in the driverís side under passenger seat storage area. I discovered what looked like a small gas tank with fuel lines leading to/from it. I removed the tank and it looks like itís leaking from one of the fittings.

Is this a common problem?

What is this tank for? It seems related to the fuel vents.

Thanks in advance for any answers!

Pictures would help. I bought a X25 salt water series that had 2 coolant tanks in the engine bay and a fresh water tank in the port side rear storage area. I cannot picture anything on the starboard side that would resemble a fuel tank. I can only guess the previous owner installed something on their own to extend the fuel tank capacity.
