Shasta

Anyone that has been in California through this latest drought can appreciate this picture of Mt. Shasta. Let's hope for a great snowpack not only here but the Sierra mountains as well.

At one time I lived just south in Redding. Had a great view from my living room window of Shasta. I really miss living there in many ways.

You can follow the water level of Shasta lake
Daily - http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/q...?s=sha&d=today
Real time - http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/q...Jan-2016+08:56

Note that the lake rose 5ft yesterday. If you know the lake, you know that is a huge amount of water. A few El Nino years back I remember when on one occasion it rose around 10ft.

It will be interesting when they start to do the snow pack surveys. Typically El Nino are warmer years... Too early to tell yet but you can follow the snow pack surveys at - http://cdec.water.ca.gov/snow/

I'm with you about Redding . I could retire there. FYI..norcal reservoirs are down from this time last year...so here's hoping we get those El Nino storms

I think about moving back there from time to time. My only problem with it is that it is still within the state lines of CA. If only everything above Sacramento could be its own state and leave the rest for the bleeding heart liberals and socialist do nothings.

This is a good link to look at - http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/products/rescond.pdf. It is updated daily. A good reminder that the reservoirs are still way low. The one big difference from last year, hopefully, is that we have snow pack.

It has gone up about 47 feet from xmas. 30 of that is in the last 10 days. It's still about 102 feet from full...but we're getting there.

I climbed Shasta as a kid when I lived in Medford, OR... I was in 4th grade and still one of the hardest things I've ever done...

Best memories are the toilet with best view and coming down the big volcanic ash hill

From what I can see the elevation was 920.15 on Dec 28th. On Jan 25th it was at 965.19 so roughly 45 feet rise. Crazy stat huh?
