Prostar 190 Steering Cable

Pulled the steering cable out of the boat yesterday (don’t worry, I pulled in a pulling cable for install). The entire length measures out at 18.5’ while the black covered section is 15.5’. The is a Teleflex Rotary cable. Do I order the 16’ or 19’ cable? I’d like to order from skidim. Also, having a tough time getting the rudder end off the cable.

Help is appreciated!

Joe

Just changed my steering cable out. I called Skidim and they told me which one to get. No measuring involved. The new cable fit like the original. Still had to take the foot plate out under the dash to get the new cable to follow the pull rope I pull in when taking the old cable out.
I had to remove the sleeve just before the rudder to get a wrench on it to get the cable off. Gave me a chance to clean it since it was out.

just changed mine on a 92 PS205, it needed the 17ft cable. skidim is definitely the way to go. My tube also broke in the process, so I had to replace it and the clamp block. One tip that I will give is to use a piece of 1inch pvc tube when sliding the cable up to the front of the boat. I slid my pull rope through the pvc, connected to the new steering cable and then slid the pvc over the exposed cable. This prevented the exposed cable from catching everything in its patch on the way to the front access hole.
Just a suggestion, but it made my install a little easier.

No lingo gap....

Represents an apostrophe in HTML code or a single mark in HTML.

Look at the word: don ’ t = don't.

One of several issues that can be the cause and also the resolution. Browser may not recognize, or vBulletin forum option HTML is not enabled, Apple does not convert properly, or Tap-a-talk is not on board.

Kind of like sideways and upside down photographs here. It's an Apple thing and an operator's thing.
