We watched the last Hip concert out on the boat, overloaded with people (shhh...) streaming the video to a tablet propped up and the audio playing over the tower speakers. I would have been worried about the sound on such a beautiful night but had just assumed everyone else on the lake was listening to the same thing!

These are the best memories!

I feel slightly out of place being a non-Canadian replying to this thread, so I hope you guys don't mind... My first exposure to the Hip was Day for Night, when that came out. Used to listen to that on the lake all the time, back in the day. Coming from punk and metal, it was an interesting listen for me, and slightly out of my box.

I made sure I saw them live at Woodstock 99 in Rome, NY. If I recall correctly, as it has been a few, they were the first band to play the East Stage on Saturday. They really did an amazing job and started the day off on a great note...pun intended.

It seems to be getting tougher for me when musicians that shaped my life pass away, and unfortunately, it seems to be happening on an increasing frequency.

It's great that we have the music. Although the musicians move on, be thankful we still have the music. I know I am.

I first saw the Hip while I was in University. A bunch of us were in Kingston and we saw them play in a small bar. mostly played cover tunes in those days.
some 25 years later I was at a bar in Toronto and Gord was at the table next to me. he was doing some serious damage to an order of wings. I said to him, "hey, watch out for all those little bones"

He looked up and without missing a beat he said," hey man thanks".

Here is a great tribute
