Winter Project

I have always wanted a Mastercraft Ski Boat, but never took the opportunity. This past fall I was searching through Craigslist and found a 1990 Prostar 190 for sale. The boat was in desperate need of attention. The interior was weathered but not shredded and the exterior needed to be buffed. The owner had lost the keys and I could not check the motor. I basically bought it if the motor was bad. The first order of business was to pull the interior so it could be redone during the winter months. Second was to check the motor. It did run and the oil started out clean, but soon looked like chocolate milk. I located a 351w roller motor out of a 1996 truck and delivered the motor to a long time friend/drag racing buddy. He has been re-doing Ford engines since 1965. He pulled the engine down and you could still see the cross hatches in the cylinders. He rebuilt the heads and freshened up the engine. While he worked on the engine I rebuilt the gunneral trim panels and the rear seat and have an appointment with the upholstery shop after Christmas. Today I stripped down the teak wood swim platform. The boat is off white and black with dark gray carpet. I hope to get the motor back in the boat by February. This site has been a great resource.

Here are some photos of my project boat. As I said the new motor is almost ready. He will place it on a run engine stand and give it some run time before installation. The graphics have been removed and have been remade by a local sign company and I will re-install them after the boat is buffed. I have stripped the teak platform down and it is ready to be coated. I have already delivered the seat skins to the upholstery shop and have decided to have them pull the skins over the seats, side panels and dog house due to time constraints and other obligations.

Drink beer, gain 20 pounds and have at least one heart attack!!

If I fail I blame Steve for not upping the guilt game on my lack of drinking!!

Busy completing new cabin. We had the first one for 15 years and built this over the summer so kids were mad about the set up last summer.

We have the X25 and Pontoon in the garage plus hosted 15 people for thanksgiving.

Iím looking forward to have allll major things done going into April.
