Looking for a new (used) truck

I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 z71 right now with about 203k on it right now. The truck runs like a top and drives very well. The truck has towed my dads checkmate, my MC, and countless ATVs and other nonsense all over creation. I don’t want to get rid of it but its to the point where its costing me too much money with dumb stuff breaking. The fuel pump just rotted away, shock mount broke, every break caliper froze up, Ive put 4 front hubs in within 3 Years. Id like to get into a duramax preferably around a 2007. I would be into a Cummins but being wrapped up in a dodge scares me. I dont think I could bring myself to a ford but I dont know a ton about the 6.7 diesel. Anyone have an LMM duramax? 6.7 Cummins with some miles on it? Any opinions on the Powerstroke? Thanks guys!

EDIT I dont mean this to be another truck wars I would just like honest opinions on the different trucks and personal experiences with trucks and tow rigs.

Hopefully this is a little easier to read now

been driving Cummins in a Dodge since 1991, owned 9 so far in our family. Logged well over 200k on the 7 previous with one up to 385k before trading it off. No issues in over 2 million miles so far. We merely traded for more features or more space, never due to having problems. I won't speak down on any of the others since the last 27 years my experience with Cummins has been very positive and only hearsay from friends with the others. We still have a '09 and '11 both with slightly over 150k miles. I have considered trading in the '09 in a few years to get more cab space but that's my truck and 99.9% of the time its just me in it.

Just go back, edit and leave the out the apostrophes. It looks silly but people can read it better.

I've got a 2004 1500 Suburban, about 150k miles. Also have an '05 2500HD Duramax Crewcab. So I have some experience with both options. I spend a few hundred dollars every now and then on my Suburban and several thousand every now and then on the Duramax No doubt a diesel from the big three will do a great job of towing. The repairs you've described for your Silverado don't really add up to a huge amount of money - but can be aggravating for sure. The challenge depends upon your budget. You'll get WAY more for your money with a gasser. Lower mileage and lower purchase price. Yes, diesels have a reputation for 'running forever' - but the upfront cost and potential for an expensive repair have to be considered IMO. There is no comparison in the towing department however. Nothing beats a diesel for towing performance, regardless of the badge on the hood.

I think better advice could be given with an idea of what your budget is for a truck purchase?

Donít buy a 10 year old diesel from the salt belt. Itíll rust out before it wears out.
Iíd get a LML or Ď14 up Cummins. Lmm or earlier 6.7 only if a steal or I was prepare to delete it.

And actually only hates punctuation when you're using Tapatalk on the iPhone. It seems to have no problem with Tapatalk on Android or Windows 10.

I forgot to say I was talked into replacing the engine in my truck that I never wanted to do. The heads cracked and it was using coolant like crazy. When I was chasing the problem the engine hydro locked idling in my driveway. That sound near made me puke haha
