Cleaning swim platform? Black mold on fiberglass platform pad surface.

Hi there,

I need some advice. I am getting some black mold-like stuff growing on the swim platform. It isn't a wood platform - it's a fiberglass one with the sea-deck type gray top. I don't know what the exact name is. It's been getting worse every year. I've been hesitant to use any cleaner as I don't want to stain it.

Suggestions?

Thanks!!!

I've found the pads to be tough to clean, the best product I've used is http://www.spraywayinc.com/content/c...e-cleaner19-oz After spraying it on use a plastic bristle brush to get down in the nooks and crannys of the pad then wipe clean.

I've used hot water and dish soap, it did little to nothing in the way of removing the black residue.

Good luck. I've tried everything and can't get it off mine. Going to see about getting it replaced this off-season.

If it just fiberglass hit it with some bleach. Also a magic erasure will take just about anything off. The there is one of my favorite madd scientist cleaners. 1 part toilet bowl cleaner and 1 part hydrogen peroxide. You better have the safety goggles and gloves on for that one though.

Is it on the fiberglass or on the sea deck? I get some small spots of what I suspect is mold on my seadeck, I find they come off easy with just a pressure washer. Comes back each year by the end of the year but always an easy fix.
