Remote control for Lift-Mate

Does anyone know if an after-market remote control for a truck/ATV 12V winch would work with a Lift-Mate boat lift motor? It would be a much cheaper option than what Shoreline Industries is asking people to pay for their remote accessory.

I'm not very familiar with the lift-mate system, but I am very familiar with truck/atv winches and their controls.

Is the Lift-Mate motor a permanent magnet or wound stator?
Easiest way to tell is if it has two connections= permanent magnet, three connections= wound stator.

As long as you match the motor type for the remote control I would expect it to work fine. I doubt the current draw of the lift-mate motor would exceed what a smaller truck winch sees. I would coordinate amp ratings before buying anything.

Thanks for your response. I'm not sure if the Lift-Mate has a permanent magnet or a wound stator, but I can call The Manufacturer to find out. Thanks again!!

Good news. Lift-Mate boat lift motors (12V) have a permanent magnet vs wound stator. That said, an after-market remote control for a truck/ATV style winch will work with the Lift-Mate, and its A LOT CHEAPER than the $368 the manufacturer quoted me over the phone for their remote control accessory.

You still need to make sure the remote is for a permanent magnet motor.
Usually cheaper chinese winches (harbor freight, milemarker etc) have perm. magnet while heavier duty quality winches (warn, Ramsey etc) have wound stators.
