If teaching new surfers from the rear swim pad, i not only notice the fumes but alsp get light headed.

Our neighbor’s g’s are decidedly quiet, significantly so in comparison to our boat.

Wow, the story of the young lady who passed is very sad and exactly why I’m concerned. In the process of shopping I’ve driven a Nautique, Malibu and Mastercraft. Of all the boats I noticed the MC had the most exhaust fumes present in and around the boat. It did not have surfpipe, the other two did. Definitely a difference. Definitely concerning. The dealership gave me the same song and dance about the best industry emissions, but no matter, those emissions are going into the boat. I like the MC the best...but they need to develop a safer exhaust system.

CATs are mandated by gov-co, not a voluntary addition by MC or any boat builder. I would not truest them to remove unsafe levels of a gas that has not odor, taste or color. Ive surfed behind identical engine equipped boats with and without aftermarket FAE/OEM Surfpipe and can tell a difference. The fresh air exhaust works on both the fumes and the noise. Highly recommend one for any surf boat.

It is strange that a number of the other tow boats are licensing the Surfpipe from FAE, but not MC. Anyone ever seen any exhaust data from MC/Illmor stating they feel its not needed?

This guy did a test on his older boat measuring CO2 levels before and after installing FAE. Interesting part about it is the surfer experienced no changes in CO2 at all before/after FAE. But passengers sitting in the rear of the boat did.

I've never had one, never surfed with one and have no interest in them. I love the sound of my 6.2 and don't think it's even remotely loud. I never smell exhaust or fumes in the back of the boat or while surfing. If MC began offering it as a no-cost option, I'd opt to not have it. It's just not my thing.

I feel the exact same way.

Bruce - why is that? Are we missing something with the MCs that the other manufacturers are doing/not doing?

We utilized a simple CO2 detector in the rear facing seats and back seats without a beep? Maybe incorrect detector....although the MC when idling or surfing has no noticeable odor when compared to our previous cobalt 226.

Surf pipes change the back pressure in the exhaust systems. The void the Ilmor warranty. There is no point for it on a newer Ilmor, the CO2 is very low to start with compared to other boat brands
