And if someone can prove you wrong, you might end up with the answer you were looking for in the first place.

My HIN is MBCBA119M77M-2 I have yet to figure out what the M and the M-2 designate.

The Serial Number is just a made up series of letters and a number for a serial number by MasterCraft, not necessarily the sequence number for any one given boat that was manufactured in that year model, as in 456 of 501 built or anything like that. Only the Limited Edition Anniversary and Tournament Team Boats of today are serial numbered in sequence as in #5 of the 100 made on a special plaque or throttle/gearshift base plate.

According to the booklet that came with our boat, for our boat, if it helps any,

MBC------------------MasterCraft Boat Company

SA --------------------Model Type, S = 351/1:1 Transmission, A= ProStar 190

XX8-------------------Serial Number, can be anything MC likes as long as the other #'s/letter are different from year to year, model to model, date of manufacture, etc.

K8---------------------Date of manufacturer, first letter is the month A to L is month or Jan to December and number is the last number in the year the boat was manufactured. K= November, 8= 1988
89----------------------Is year model, 1989

You will have to contact MasterCraft for any variance from that published format in their owners paperwork. I called MasterCraft to find out what all the stuff meant when I took delivery of our boat 21 years ago just to be sure I knew what mine meant.

I think 1977 had 13 months. Something to do with moon phases, lunar months, and the introduction of disco and Studio 54.

Perhaps the flash from a disco ball caused the person entering the serial number for my boat during production to fat-finger the keyboard and cause me to forever wonder exactly what all the digits mean.

In reality, I guess it doesn't matter if I know the meaning of my serial number. Perhaps someday a secret vault will be opened and the Mastercraft secret decoder ring will be inside to help us all decipher all these serial numbers.

Your user no. 1? LOL
At least yours was not stamped on the hull upside down! I speak from experience.

Cool

That's my story too...I am USER No.1! Heck the boat only has 180 hours on it, must be a collectors item!

I have done some research off all the HIN threads here at TT and have come up with a guesstimate of what each digit means. First three are obious; P4 is the motor and tranny combo; P5 is the boat model; P6 and P7 are alpha digits; P8 is neumerical digit; P9 is the month; P10 is the year it was build; P11 and 12 equals the model year.

So I have concluded the U= 350/1.1 and S=PS205.

I am still sticking with I am the owner of the first 1997 PS205 (USER1)!

Any help would be greatly appreciative.
As I was fueling my boat this evening I noticed my boat also has the "-PD" suffix after the 82 model year. I never noticed that before, I only had it 28 years........

If it does stand for Promo Demo, does that make it one of the early TT boats?

Maybe yours was the yellow and gold metalflake MC we saw at the park exit as we left Cypress Gardens after the ski show in 1983. That boat was the first MC that ever caught my eye and made my heart race, thinking at that time I would probably never be able to own one, but figured I could dream anyway.
